Playstation 2 games on your PC

Wednesday, June 3, 2009

  1. Pcsx2 is the emulator one that I’ve found to be more compatible and able to play more games.

  2. Download it from the below link. The company website is good at letting you know which one is the latest version or if there are other versions under development. Also, make sure you are downloading the installation file.

  3. Install the emulator. Pay attention to the folder that the application is getting installed into. You many need this information some time in the future.

  4. Now, you need to find bios. Bios doesn't come with the installation file. It would be more convenient if they did, but they do not. It isn't legal for the emulator companies to distribute the bios because they are copy-righted by Sony. The only legal way to obtain bios is to get them from your own Playstation 2, but the task is complicated. Besides if you had a Playstation 2, there wouldn't be any need to play the games on your PC.

  5. Download the bios from the below link. Choose the appropriate file extension based on the capabilities of your computer; either the .bin or the .rar file types. Also, to be sure that you won't be downloading for days, check the other specifications of the files to determine how fast, or slow, it will download.

  6. Download the bios. Save them to the ‘Bios’ folder in the directory where you installed the Pcsx2. For instance, C:/Program Files/Pcsx2/Bios would be the place where I would save my bios.

  7. Pop in your PS2 game into your DVD-rom. Open the games with your new emulator and play until your heart is content.
